Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2011 is going to be good. I have yet to write the wrong year.

This is the year that Autism gets insurance coverage! There are 23 states plus Washington DC with state bills pending introduction or endorsement. (Autism Speaks State Initiatives).

•Alabama
•Alaska
•Arkansas
•California
•Delaware
•Hawaii
•Georgia
•Idaho
•Maryland
•Michigan
•Minnesota
•Mississippi
•Nebraska
•New York
•North Carolina
•North Dakota
•Ohio
•Rhode Island
•South Dakota
•Tennessee
•Virginia
•Washington
•Washington, DC
•West Virginia

So why am I writing this? Because if you live in one of these states you need to find out the bill number or numbers and start writing to your representatives.

"Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as
those who are." -Benjamin Franklin

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to
justice everywhere" Martin Luther King

If you don't think it can't happen to you, here is a reminder. The rate of autism is 1 in 110. The rate of twins is only 1 in 1000. You are more likely to have a child with autism and to have twins! Both are wonderful bundles of joy and labors of love. The only thing heart breaking about Autism is the lack of insurance coverage for treatments that will set children up for success in life.

Okay off my soapbox. If you came here to read crafty things, this is what I'm looking forward to in the blogging world. Coming soon in February...

Boy month is returning to Made and Made by Rae. I have a few new boy things I've made so I'll be posting them.

In the mean time check out last years Celebrate the BOY (Rae) or Celebrate the BOY (Dana).
